This democratic nation shows great promise, and yet world leaders fear that this nation’s great promise may morph into something much more worrisome. These leaders call on you, the students of room 221 at Holy Cross, to study history in order to gain valuable insight into this problem.
Your goal? To examine the key events outlined in Synthesizing the Republic, and to create a list of general rules that a nation on the rise should follow if it wishes to remain a democracy.
Finally, we will work together to examine an article written by an historian who argues that the scenario you faced above has, sadly, already happened.
