Yesterday, we completed some preliminary work on movie pitches. Before we resume this activity, we need to examine effective oration. We will watch a video in which Michelle Obama will address the Democratic National Convention. We will also briefly discuss the moral implications of her words.
While we watch, I’d like you to watch for the following:
- Any rhetorical devices the speaker uses (quickly double-check the list from the other day)
- Effective delivery and body language
- indirect language
When we are done, you will return to the movie pitch. You will present your work today. I would like to see you use some of the techniques demonstrated by the First Lady.
