Today, we will examine three primary source documents from the French Revolution. Our goal is to answer the following questions for each document:
- How is this document consistent with the values of the Revolution?
- Which words, phrases, or arguments indicate that France has been fundamentally changed?
- Which sentences and/or arguments indicate that the Revolution’s “pendulum” may be swinging in ways that the early revolutionaries may not have intended?
We will attempt to bring all of our ideas together with a good ol’ fashioned jigsaw.
