ENG 4U 2011: All My Sons

Today, we begin All My Sons. Before we start reading/acting, I need a few volunteers to take part in a demonstration about the basics of Greek Tragedy. Here are the terms I will introduce to you:

  • Hubris (Hue-bris)
  • Hamartia (Ha-mar-tee-a)
  • Opsis (Op-sis)
  • Catharsis (Cath-R-sus)

I want you to keep these terms in mind as we begin reading All My Sons. Remember that Miller’s work often follows the pattern of Greek tragedy.
