- Fortinbras’ father, the former king of Norway, was also named Fortinbras
- Fortinbras’ father was killed by Hamlet Sr. in battle. Interestingly, Hamlet was born on this same day.
- Fortinbras is a man of action. His name literally means “strong arm”.
- Fortinbras is seeking revenge on the kingdom of Denmark for his father’s death.
