Next, we need to wrap up what we started yesterday. Because your first assignment requires your to understand historical schools, it is imperative that you feel comfortable with them.
In the second half of the class, we will begin the course in earnest. We will jump back 600 years or so, and attempt to understand the world view of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Before we do, so let’s talk about our world view.
I’d also like to show you a few maps from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Think carefully about what these maps tell us about the times in which they were made.
Homework: read Medieval World View p41, Renaissance World View (42), Innovation (art and print 42-43). In one page, outline some key aspects of these world views; make sure you include anything that might shape the decades that follow.
