Today, we will discuss some elements of effective communication.
Here is our order of things:
- You will submit your journal about The Closing of the American Mind. Just a quick reminder about the dangers of faulty reasoning, I’d like to show you this.
- You will work with your groups to assess the quality of student writing from a few Grade 11 exemplars. I’ve deliberately chosen the extremes: a low Level 1 and a high Level 4. I’d like you to work with your group to write comments for both students (strengths and weaknesses)
- We will examine some truly awful thesis statements. We will try to create a list of rules for effective thesis writing based on these horrendous (but humorous) examples.
